Creating Cardiac Rate Effect

On this Photoshop tutorial I’m going to show u how to make one interesting effect which I received by experimenting with Photoshop filters. In the end our effect will looks like cardiac rate.

Ok, let’s begin. Create a new document sized 700×700 pixels and fill it with black color.

After that apply Gradient Overlay layer style.

The result should be next:

After that create a new layer and merge it with previous to get all effects in one layer. Then apply Filter > Brush Strokes > Sprayed Strokes with next parameters:

See the difference now?

Ok, now we can start with creating effect. Select the Horizontal Type Tool and write out something like ‘BEAT.’ Pay your attention that the text color should be white and different design elements also. Only in this way effect of applying a filter will be maximum.

In the above image I’ve used Swis721 as my font of choice, which is free and it’s sized at a meager 120 pt. Ok after that we need to add a few lines more. Select the Line Tool (Weight: 3 px) and draw the lines like on my picture below:

After that merge text layer with lines in one layer. Then select the Eraser Tool and hard round brush and make some clear work on the new layer.

Good, then rotate our layer about 90 degrees with Edit > Transform > Rotate 90 CCW.

After that apply Filter>Stylize>Wind with similar settings to these:

See the effect now:

Then press Ctrl+F to enhance the action filter.

After that apply Filter>Stylize>Wind again, but now you need to change some parameters:

The result should be next:

Again press Ctrl+F to enhance the action filter again.

Looking good isn’t it? But this tutorial is not done for now. After that use Edit > Transform > Rotate 90 CW to rotate text with lines back.

Then apply Outer Glow and Color Overlay layer styles for this layer.

Ok, now you should have the result like this on my picture below.

Without Face: Photoshop Cheating

Hey, are you interesting on cheating methods in Photoshop? If yes then I’ll show u how to create one interesting effect with human face. I’m going to cover almost all the face with plain skin. This lesson is more suitable for those users who have some experience with Photoshop.

Let’s start! In the beginning you should find the picture of a human face to experiment with. I prefer to use this one. Also feel free to use your own pictures. Open up the file and start covering mouth with skin. Get out the Lasso Tool to create selection as shown on my picture below:

Then press Ctrl+J to duplicate selected area on the new layer and move it up a little bit with Move Tool.

After that select the Eraser Tool and the soft round brush to remove borders clearness for current layer. Try to get the same result as on my picture, which you can see below.

Ok, now use the Brush Tool (Brush: 150 px, Range: Midtones: Exposure : 20%) to make skin darken a slightly.

Merge current layer with previous one. Now, select the Clone Stamp Tool (Brush: 40 px, Opacity: 50%) and hold down the Alt key — the cursor will change to a target. Click the point you wish to use as a sampling point. This will be used as the reference point for cloning. Click and draw where you want the cloned image to appear. As you draw, a cross will appear on the original image while a corresponding circle appears where you are drawing.

Now apply the Sharpen Tool to increase the sharpness a little bit.

Ok, move to the next area. Now I’m going to process eye area. Use the Lasso Tool again to select another one area.

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate selected area to the new layer and move it a little bit as on my picture you can see below.

After that use the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush again to process clear skin borders for current layer.

Merge this layer with background layer again and use the Clone Stamp Tool one more time to remove skin mixing defects.

Increase sharpness with Sharpen Tool for current area also.

Ok, process another eye on the same way. Use the Lasso Tool to create another selection again.

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate selected area on the new layer and move it above.

Use the Eraser Tool again to process skin borders.

Duplicate current layer again with Ctrl+J and move it down and left a little bit.

Use the Eraser Tool again to correct this layer.

Merge all layers again and apply Clone Stamp Tool one more time to hide all the defects.

Add more sharpness with Sharpen Tool.

Time to process the nostrils. On this step u don’t need to duplicate skin area again to hide the nostrils, it will be much easer to use only Clone Stamp Tool. Use the soft round brush about 25 pixels to do it neatly.

Now, select the Dodge Tool (Brush: 70 px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 20%) to make some dodge work on the left part of the noise to bring our nose more realistic view.

Ok, on this step we are done with out Photoshop tutorial. Human head without face looks so professional processed, isn’t it? Hope you got the same good result as me. If not, don’t be upset, may be you need to have more practice with Clone Stamp Tool, after that you will get the same good result or may be better than mine!

How to Cheat with Visualization in Photoshop

Have you ever seen any fruits or vegetables with a face? In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to make realistic view collage with fruit and human face.

In the beginning you should find the picture of ay fruit or vegetable. I prefer to use this one picture of pear. Open up the picture.

Then you need to find appropriate picture of human face to put it on the fruit. You can use mine picture or feel free to use your own. Ok, open up the picture and copy it to the first canvas with fruit. Then set up opacity to 45% for this layer and use Edit > Free Transform to reduce the picture and rotate it as on my picture below.

Set up opacity to 100% for current layer again and begin cleaning work with Eraser Tool. Use soft round brush with opacity about 30%. Remove all parts, leaving only the eyes, lips and nose.

After that select hard round brush and make clear finger area.

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate layer and hide the copy (click on the eye, which indicates layer visibility). Go to lower layer and apply Image > Adjustments > Color Balance with next presets:

After that use Image > Adjustments >Hue/Saturation:

The picture should look like this:

After that select the Burn Tool (Brush: 70px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 30%) to make some burn work.

Go back to the hidden layer and make it visible again. Select the Eraser Tool again and remove all content, leaving just eyeballs, nostrils and mouth.

Then apply Image > Adjustments > Levels to this layer:

See the result below:

After that get out the Burn Tool (Brush: 70px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 30%) again and darken nostrils and mouth areas.

Select the Eraser Tool and a soft round brush with 30% opacity and make little clean work on the same areas.

Looks good, isn’t it? Ok, move to the next step. We should add the pear texture to the face. Go to the background layer and make selection with Polygonal Lasso Tool as was shown on my picture below.

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate selected area on the new layer. After that move this layer above all the layers and change layer mode to Soft Light for it.

Then make some brightness and contrast corrections with Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.

Now you should have something like this:

After that select the Eraser Tool again and remove clear borders of this texture.

Use the Burn Tool (Brush: 40px, Range: Midtones, Exposure: 30%) one more time to make features more clearly.
